Dear Parents,

We often hear our children say things like “I want to do it by myself!” or “I’m big enough now!” These phrases reflect a kindergartener’s desire to try things independently and feel capable. This story takes us on a journey with little Maurice the Mole, who creatively solves the problem of food scarcity for himself and his siblings underground. Despite being small and different from his older siblings, who don’t even hear him, Maurice’s out-of-the-box thinking, and self- belief allow him to bring various foods to his family and discover the beauty of the world above ground.

“I may be small, but I can do big things” is a key phrase in the story that reflects children’s need to develop strength and capability, thereby building their self-image. Encouraging our children to express themselves freely and giving them space to explore interests and try different tasks greatly helps develop their creative abilities.

The story therefore recommends that we pay attention to our children’s desires and opinions, providing them with ample daily experiences to grow into independent, strong, and creative individuals
