Lantern Library Web site accessibility statement
In recent years, websites have become the main platform for disseminating the various information and services that a company offers to the public.
The Lantern Library, operated by the public benefit corporation Grinspoon Israel LLC, is a partner project of the Ministry of Education and provides quality books for children. On this website, you can find information about the program, the books offered, and the activities that accompany the books. We also provide information for educational staff, parents, and the community, in addition to providing manuscripts and requests for guidance, and we provide a space for you to register your details so that our staff can get back to you and contact you.
The goal of web accessibility is to ensure equal opportunities in the online space for people with disabilities and those who use different assistive technologies when navigating the web.
Convenience and affordability
Improvements have been made to make the site easier to recognize and navigate, in accordance with the recommendations of the Israel Standards Institute (ISO 5568) and to improve the accessibility and usability of web content to AA level in conjunction with the W3C’s WCAG2.0 recommendations for grading web standards and accessibility for people with special needs (WCAG2.0).
The changes we’ve made to the site have been tested using the most popular browsers: Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. We recommend using the latest version of the NVDA software for the optimal and most enjoyable browsing experience with your screen reader.
In order to make the site accessible to people with disabilities, a large number of measures have been adopted and implemented, including:
- Convenience of the site for easy and convenient keyboard navigation.
- Create a clear and prominent frame when navigating to Focus and as the user navigates the site using the keyboard.
- Categorize headings in a correct hierarchical manner according to the information they contain and the structure of the page.
- Achieve a noticeable visual change when hovering over clickable elements, such as settings menus, buttons, and links.
- Adding a search mechanism that allows good and easy control over the pages of the site.
- Use the accessibility component that allows you to change the color contrast ratio of the content on the site.
The site is optimized for browsers using screen reader software:
- Add appropriate alternative text to images that appear on the site.
- Use appropriate headings and differentiate them according to the contents and page structure.
- Use appropriate and clear labels in the fields that appear on the Contact Us form) appropriate and clear in the fields that appear in the Contact Us form.
- Use smooth and clear language on all pages of the site.
- Use the aria label directive to align website information with screen reader software.
Use a tool to change the color contrast of the site
As part of our efforts to improve the accessibility of the site, a dedicated component has been integrated to change the colors of the site, in order to create a high level of contrast between the color of the content and the background color. The purpose of this component is to adapt the appearance and information that appears on the site for people with visual impairments.
To activate the component, click on the “Change Contrast” icon key that appears at the top left of the site. You can click on it with your mouse or navigate to it with your keyboard; by pressing the TAB key, another click on the icon key will return the site to its original color.
The Lantern Library confirms that it has been consulted by the WEB-A Optimization of Websites, Applications and Advanced Systemswhich accompanied the library in the realization of this project.
No Public Reception at the Lantern Bookstore
The library team is convinced that every person with disabilities should be able to use the site in an equal, enjoyable and interactive way.
Special changes and adaptations have been made to this website, utilizing the latest and most appropriate technology to meet the needs of our contracted users and web surfers. However, it is important to note that certain elements still have limited accessibility and are in the process of being made accessible to people with special needs.
If you come across an inaccessible component of the site, please contact us and we promise to check and optimize it as soon as possible. It goes without saying that we will make every effort to provide you with the best service in a fast, personalized and satisfying manner.
