Book-Related Family Activities
Dear Parents,
Thanks to the spirit of initiative, belonging, and collaborative teamwork, Rafi and his friends succeeded in the mission of saving the library from the danger of closing. Its shelves were filled with books again, and adults and children from the town returned to visit it.
Our role as parents is to enhance the sense of ability and deepen the feeling of belonging and responsibility in children, motivate them to make their voices heard, and take an active role in influencing issues that concern their lives and the life of their community. It is important thatwe encourage our children to strive for the common good, and support them in planning and implementation, in order to develop their ability to solve problems and deal with challenges and difficulties starting from home, through the neighbourhood and town, and reaching the wider circles of life. Children’s involvement in community work, according to their abilities and interests, develops their sense of belonging, empathy, responsibility, and initiative.
This story also aims to encourage visiting public libraries and reading books as a source of pleasure and knowledge. As parents, we have a big role in this by reviving the culture of reading books in our home.
We should, then, start with ourselves, as our children seeing us reading our favourite books is the best encouragement for them to approach books with pleasure and passion.
