Dear Parents,
Does your child spend time exploring what and who is around them and communicating with them? It is a crucial need in this time to replace the hours our children spend in front of screens with visiting our neighbours and checking on the elderly, as well as taking care of the neighbourhood animals. The cat wanders between the houses of the neighbourhood to receive care and tell a story with each house, until it reaches the house of the elderly lady who embraced it and found what it was looking for, so it decided to stay in her house. Everyone went out looking for the cat to find it at the elderly woman’s house, which became full of visitors all the time. This story carries important human and social meanings and values, especially caring for animals and accompanying the elderly in their loneliness and taking care of them, and creating a close social fabric, where its members share joys and sorrows. This story reminds us of the importance of warm communication through “neighbourhood gatherings”, visiting the elderly, and sharing feelings of love and care among community members. These beautiful habits can instill in our children values of respect, empathy, and solidarity, and strengthen the bonds between generations and different people around us.
